Auction 16 Results
Despite the Wimbledon mens tennis final over running some bidders still chose the last minutes of the sale to bid live against other like minded collectors & thus enjoying the real time aspect of this auction site.
Statistically proxy bidders still have the advantage winning more than 65% of the lots sold. Overall a happy medium enjoyed by all who partake.

Spirited bidding in the last few minutes combined with the frequency of bids,enhanced the live aspect of the online bidding. An enjoyable experience was had by all with buyers and sellers happy with the results.

Once again prices across all sectors remained firm.A selection of the highlights would include the KSA to Lieut.Shipman, a Mafeking defender who was also MID sold at 207-50 GBP, a WW1 group of four to Pte.Critchen, Queens Regiment sold at 337-00GBP and finally a WW2 group to Lieut.Martin, SAAF, probably KIA during the Greek Civil War and will make for a very fulfilling research project, sold at 352-00GBP.

Strong prices were maintained across all sections of this sale.The Liverpool Shipwreck & Humane Society General Medal sold at 314-05 GBP, a Queens South Africa medal to Lumsden's Horse sold at 326-00 GBP and a Victory medal to the Mesopotamian Railways at 37-00 GBP to name but a few.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, a fire at our servers data centre, please see details below, Neate Auctions website went offline on Saturday evening 31st May 2008.
In the interests of both vendors & bidders alike we have had to relist auctions 12 & 13 from the start. Both sales have been combined into one auction.
We have taken the opportunity during this forced downtime to move this site's hosting.

Since late Saturday evening all of the servers housed at the Houston
Data Centre with ThePlanet.com have been down due to an electrical
fire which took out over 2,000 servers and in-turn over 3,000.000
sites. Since Saturday everyone affected has been standing by for
regular updates from The Planet with regards news on the restoration
of power. Within the last hour power has been restored to the first
floor enabling our main server to come back online. We are therefore pleased
and relieved to confirm that normal service has now been resumed.

Overview received from www.theplanet.com:-

This evening at 4:55 in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted,
creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls
surrounding our electrical equipment room Thankfully, no one was
injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.

We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the
damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire
conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan
based on instructions from the fire department.

Another well received sale with prices remaining above average.Medals to Special Forces always do well and the Rhodesian General Service Medals to the SAS @ 251-00 GBP and the Selous Scouts @ 202-00 GBP kept to this trend.
The Royal Army Veterinary Corps 1914-15 Star Trio with MID emblem was also appreciated selling @ 251-00 GBP.

Auction 10 statistics reveal that 20 lots were sold to 10 individual buyers.
WW1 material is continuing to do well with a 1914-15 Star to an IOM winner bringing £ 145-00 & a 1914-20 British War Medal to an officer casualty bringing £ 67-00. We hope to continue this trend to achieve the best possible return for our vendors.Remember the only commission you pay is 10% on the selling price, nothing else.You also benefit enormously from the fact that there is no buyers premium, returning you on average 15 - 20% more.
Buyers are also not having to allow for 3% credit card surcharges, 3% online bidding fee's and a host of other add on's which ultimately is taken off the price they are prepared to bid for an item.

Britannia medal fair 13th April 2008
We will be attending this fair at the Victory Services Club, 63 / 79 Seymour Street, Marble Arch,London this Sunday.
Anyone wishing to consign to future sales can see us at this fair.
Auction 4 Results
Auction 4 statistics reveal that 31 lots were sold to 17 individual buyers. Medals to British cavalry regiments excelled with a Punjab medal to a 9th Lancer Trumpeter selling at £ 580-00 with a modern first Gulf war group to the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars selling at £ 500-00.
Medals to Commonwealth forces also performed rather well with a single Canadian WW 1 Military medal and bar selling at £629-00, an Indian officers medal entitled to an OBI and IDSM selling for £ 351-00 and a WW 1 group to the 18th Lancers selling at £ 250-00.
South Africa was also represented with a WW 2 group to the Navy selling at £ 135-00.

Auction 3 statistics reveal that 26 lots were sold to 14 individual buyers.

Auction 2 statistics reveal that 25 lots were sold to 17 individual buyers.Healthy competition was had for the full size and miniature groups to Mr.E.N.Corbyn, Sudan Civil Service.

Auction 1 Results
With the successful conclusion of auction one, 47 lots were sold to 23 buyers of which 17 are based in the United Kingdom, the other buyers residing in Australia, Canada, China and The United States Of America.
One of the highlights of this sale is undoubtedly a world record price paid for a Rhodesian General Service Medal. The medal awarded to 18919 Constable. Matambo of the British South Africa Police Support Unit, Killed in Action during a contact with terrorists in 1974, was hotly contested between 6 bidders to eventually sell for a very pleasing £680-00.
Both vendors and buyers alike have been pleased with the results so far.We would also like to thank everyone for all the positive comments received to date and we look forward to your continuing support both as buyers and sellers in consigning medals to future sales.
